Srinagar 12 April (KNO) : Asking National Media to apologies for wakening from deep slumbers to speak for 8 year old Asifa, AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er. Rasheed has said that the criminal silence of three months has exposed the real designs of these TV channels.

In a statement issued today Er. Rasheed said “Keeping complete mum for three months and suddenly trying to become the champion of child rights has revealed that there was something behind the curtains that had forced the national media to shut its mouth over Asifa’s rape and murder case. While now every TV channel is debating Asifa’s rape and murder case the way it deserves to be debated but the shameful part of the story remains unanswered that why it took three months for these nationalist channels to wakeup”.

Er. Rasheed added that the silence of national media for three months and now becoming advocates of justice and child rights has authenticated and exposed the biased, unrealistic and propagandistic attitude and response of national media towards the majority community of J&K. He said “Not only saner voices in India but world community must notice that if it takes Indian media three months to speak a word over such a heinous crime which had nothing to do with the national interest or integrity of India, how wrongfully and in a negative way Indian media might have been reporting the huge atrocities on Kashmiris being committed in the name of dealing with so called anti nationals and Pakistani agents.

There can be nothing shameful than the fact that while four civilians got martyred in Kulgam none of the TV channels had a word over the brutality of forces. It is evident that speaking for Asifa has become a compulsion of Indian media and nobody should get misled and conclude that the ultranationalist media has turned neutral and fair overnight. It is shocking that it took those stars who lashed at Shahid Afridi for raising voice against killings in Kashmir three months to tweet and condemn Asifa’s rape and murder”.

Er. Rasheed added that it was the miscalculation of the communal forces of Jammu that they highlighted Asifa’s rape and murder case by holding continuous protests and even the lawyers stopped crime branch from producing the charge sheet, which invited a huge outrage on social media both at national and international level, thus forcing the national TV channels to end their shameless and immoral silence over the issue.
